The minimum width for the recommended shelf would be 16 inches apart, but you can install them as wide as you prefer, as long as they are secured into wall studs. However, it is advised not to exceed a width of 48 inches between the uprights, as the board may bow in the middle if a significant amount of weight is placed on it without proper support.

Regarding the lag bolts, they do not come with anchors. The size of the lag bolt is as follows: head size 13mm, threaded diameter 7.8mm, threaded length 50mm, and total length 55mm. The weight capacity of the system has been designed and tested based on stud installation.

The 16-inch depth includes the flex tip end, and you can securely mount a 20-inch or 24-inch deep shelf on the arms. Each arm has two holes that you can use to attach a screw into the shelf board to secure it.

The lag screw mounting hardware included with the heavy-duty wall racks is specifically designed for wood stud installation. The purpose of the tabs at the end of each bracket is to prevent material from rolling off the shelf. If you choose to use your own shelf, you can go beyond the 16-inch depth, and you can easily bend the tabs down flat.
